Guide Tourism and hospitality experiences for WordPress

Create an Interactive Hotel or Resort Map in WordPress

Turn the plans, aerial photos, room images and renders you already have into a guided visual experience. Let guests explore areas, accommodation, amenities and attractions before arrival, without commissioning a full 3D or 360° tour.

In short

  • Build from existing plans, photos and renders
  • Manage and update the experience in WordPress
  • Connect the property overview with rooms, amenities and attractions

Give guests the whole property in one visual path

A property website often separates the resort plan, room gallery, amenity descriptions and visitor information across several pages or downloadable PDFs. Guests can see individual features, but they struggle to understand where those features sit and how the place fits together.

WP InSpot connects those materials inside one visual flow. A guest starts with the complete property, opens the area that matters and continues to a room, facility, activity or attraction without losing the wider context.

Connect the property overview, areas and details

Build a guided path that follows the real structure of the hotel, resort, campsite or venue. The main plan can lead to a building, zone or floor. The next view can reveal rooms, amenities, event spaces or attractions. Each location can open its details, follow a link or continue into another workspace.

Property planAreaRoom or amenityDetails
  • Property plan → area, building or level
  • Area plan → room, cabin, amenity or activity
  • Room or venue photo → feature, description or gallery
  • Location → booking, enquiry or visitor-information page

Breadcrumbs and back navigation preserve the route, so guests can explore several parts of the property without repeatedly returning to the first page. The tutorials walk through connected views with nested workspaces step by step.

Make plans, photos and renders clickable

Use the visual assets already available in the WordPress Media Library. Draw rectangular, circular or polygonal interactive zones (hotspots) over rooms, cabins, pools, restaurants, spa areas, entrances, parking, reception desks, meeting rooms and points of interest.

Each zone can show a tooltip, popup, modal or side drawer. It can display text, open WordPress content, follow an external link or lead into a nested workspace. A floor plan can explain the layout, while a room photo or render can reveal features directly where guests see them.

Generate an amenity directory from the same locations

Some guests will explore the map. Others will prefer a straightforward list of accommodation, facilities or attractions. WP InSpot can generate an optional HTML Table View from the actionable zones in the workspace, so the visual guide and amenity directory use the same configured locations.

Every actionable room, facility or attraction zone can become a directory row, whether it opens a WordPress post, displays text, follows a link or leads into a nested workspace. When no post or entity sits behind a zone, a column can use the zone’s own label, number or configured value.

Hovering a directory row highlights the corresponding location on the plan. Clicking the row triggers the same configured action as clicking the zone itself: it can open details, display a popup or drawer, visit an information page or move into another workspace.

The directory is server-rendered HTML, making names, types, areas, opening hours and accessibility details readable to visitors and search engines instead of locking them inside an image. Column sets can be assigned at workspace level, inherited by nested views and overridden where one part of the property needs different information. Automatic synchronization with a booking engine, PMS or external guest system requires a separate integration. The documentation covers the WP InSpot Table View column keys and inheritance rules in full.

How to create an interactive hotel or resort map in WordPress

  1. Add the visual overview. Create a workspace and choose a site plan, floor plan, aerial image, room photo or render from the WordPress Media Library.
  2. Draw clickable locations. Mark rooms, accommodation, amenities, event spaces, visitor facilities and attractions with shapes that match the image.
  3. Connect each location. Open text, a WordPress page, an external link, a popup, a drawer or another workspace with more detail.
  4. Add Table View (optional). Generate the amenity or visitor directory from actionable zones, choose its columns and verify row-to-zone highlighting and actions.
  5. Publish and test. Add the workspace with the Gutenberg block or shortcode, then test the complete route on desktop, mobile and keyboard navigation.

Built for hotels, resorts and visitor destinations

Hotel and resort plans

Help prospective guests understand buildings, room types, pools, dining, wellness, activities, reception, parking and access points before they arrive. Each location can reveal the information that matters without forcing guests to decode a printed plan.

Campsites and holiday parks

Turn a site plan or aerial image into a visual guide to cabins, pitches, sanitary facilities, activity areas, shops and shared spaces. Link each zone to practical information or the relevant booking page.

Attractions and visitor venues

Show entrances, visitor services, exhibition areas, trails, restaurants, accessible routes and points of interest on a branded plan. Use nested workspaces when a large attraction needs several levels of detail.

Conference and event venues

Help planners compare meeting rooms, capacities, layouts and nearby facilities from one visual overview. WP InSpot presents configured content; live availability and event-booking logic require a separate system.

Room and amenity guides

Make an existing room photo or render interactive. Point out bed configurations, workspace features, accessibility details, balcony views, equipment or premium amenities exactly where they appear.

More interactive image examples from other industries follow the same structure.

A practical alternative to heavy virtual-tour production

A professionally produced 3D or 360° tour can be valuable when full immersion is central to the sales experience. It also requires specialist capture or modelling, additional tooling and a production process for future updates.

Many hospitality projects need something simpler: a clear way to connect the plans, photos and renders they already have. WP InSpot turns those assets into a guided experience inside WordPress, so a team can update descriptions, links and visual paths without commissioning a new tour whenever the offer changes.

  • No new 3D model required
  • No 360° photo shoot required
  • No separate hosted tour platform required
  • Existing WordPress pages can remain the source of detailed content

Know when a specialist platform is the better fit

Use specialist mapping, booking or virtual-tour software when the project requires live indoor positioning, turn-by-turn routes, offline navigation, a native guest app, real-time room availability, booking transactions, PMS synchronization, complex search filters, kiosk management or fully immersive 3D and 360° production.

WP InSpot serves a narrower need: create an interactive, maintainable visual guide from existing property assets and WordPress content. That boundary keeps implementation lighter and prevents the landing page from promising capabilities the plugin does not provide.

Responsive and accessibility-conscious

Guests often check property information on a phone, so area selection, location details and back navigation must remain understandable on smaller screens. Choose presentation modes that fit the available space and test real room, amenity and visitor content at representative widths.

Use clear zone labels, visible keyboard focus and descriptive text for essential facilities. The HTML amenity directory provides a non-visual route to the same locations. WP InSpot supports accessibility-conscious implementation, but final WCAG conformance depends on the page design, content and testing of the complete website.

For agencies: deliver the experience inside WordPress

WP InSpot is managed from the WordPress admin rather than a separate hosted tour platform. Publish with a Gutenberg block or shortcode, connect locations to existing hotel or attraction content and style the presentation to match the website.

For an agency, the delivery process becomes repeatable: prepare the visual assets, define the navigation path and content fields, create or connect WordPress pages, draw zones, configure the directory and hand over a system the client can continue to maintain. Multi-site licences are listed on the WP InSpot pricing page.

Frequently asked questions

How do I create an interactive hotel map in WordPress?

Create a WP InSpot workspace, upload a hotel or resort plan, draw zones over rooms and amenities, then assign an action to each location. Connect areas with nested workspaces and publish the result with the Gutenberg block or shortcode.

Can I use an existing resort plan or aerial photo?

Yes. A workspace can start from a plan, aerial image, floor plan, photo or render already available in the WordPress Media Library. The image remains the visual base for clickable zones.

Can one property map lead to rooms and amenities?

Yes. A zone can open another nested workspace, allowing a visitor to move from the property overview to an area, room, facility or attraction while breadcrumbs and back navigation preserve context.

Can WP InSpot generate an amenity directory?

Yes. Actionable zones can become rows in a server-rendered HTML Table View. Hovering a row highlights the corresponding location, while clicking it triggers the same action as the zone.

Can locations link to booking or information pages?

Yes. A zone can follow an internal or external link, open WordPress content, display text or lead into another workspace. WP InSpot does not provide the booking engine or live availability behind that destination.

Is WP InSpot a replacement for a 3D or 360° virtual tour?

It is a practical alternative when the goal is a guided experience built from existing plans, photos and renders. Projects that require full immersion, specialist capture or 3D navigation should use dedicated production or virtual-tour software.

Does WP InSpot provide live wayfinding or GPS navigation?

No. WP InSpot creates interactive maps and connected visual guides from your own images. Live positioning, route calculation, offline navigation and kiosk management require a dedicated wayfinding platform or custom integration.

Is WP InSpot suitable for tourism and hospitality agencies?

Yes. Agencies can use it as a repeatable way to deliver interactive visual guides for hotels, resorts, campsites, attractions and venues without coding a new interface for every website.
